| layouts were good. some new ones there this year but mainly the same ones as usual. if you are going to buy stuff dont expect to get any real bargains though. i thought even a lot of the bits on the buy, sell table were not cheap Edited by treecave at 8:30 pm, Sat 8 Oct treecave - 2011-10-08 20:29:00 |

| have you been doing much train 'work' lately smurf. my layout has been badly neglected for a few months now due to a RC model boat build. got myself a DCC set a while back and still havent set it up yet. maybe a session this weekend if the weather keeps me inside. treecave - 2011-12-15 23:15:00 |

same with my husband, with the eqs his other one got a bit messy so now, neither cars fit in the garage and hes trying to lay it out so he can walk in a work on it, rather than pull it down all the time slimgym - 2012-03-24 22:45:00 |
| have you seen the layouts at ferrymead. i would like to do something like the section as you walk through the doorway at the big HO layout they have. sort of a section of nz scenery and sheds/fences etc. i dont think treecave - 2012-03-25 19:08:00 |
| we were down there the other weekend and they were closed eq damage we were told. hubby was busy tonight cutting up lenghs of wood to make a stand for it, so I dont think hes got very far with it. Spent alot of time drawing it out and measuring up at the moment slimgym - 2012-03-30 23:43:00 |
| i know the feeling. drawing it out has saved me one major muckup so far. Edited by treecave at 11:53 pm, Fri 30 Mar treecave - 2012-03-30 23:52:00 |
| The model train club at Ferrymead has had to close the part of the building that has the 16.5 mm (HO/OO) layout in it to the public due to earthquake damage to the piles in the building - only minor damage to the layout. The Garden City Model Railroad club is still out open to members and anyone with an interest in model trains is welcome to join smurf14 - 2012-04-04 22:59:00 |
| hes now got on to the board on top, been buying stuff off here so hes really getting in to it again. Poor grandkids I dont think they even saw the last one going How do you join the train club, we live on the other side of town but could pop over sometime slimgym - 2012-04-07 02:43:00 |
| LOL. i know the feeling there. my sisters grandchildren want to see mine to. never had it to the stage where it was reliable enough for 'public' display before being wrecked again. does hubby scratch build anything like bridges, culverts and the like. i actually enjoy the building probably more than operating. by the way this site http://www.gcmrsleeper.org/Membership/membership.html might be a start to join the club at ferrymead. treecave - 2012-04-07 20:56:00 |
| The club has put membership information in the model train shops around ChCh - also they meet at the clubrooms at Ferrymead still on Monday nights smurf14 - 2012-04-07 23:45:00 |
