Windows 11

#Post
1

Yesterday decided to install the just released Microsoft Visual Studio 2022, I use the Community edition which is free. The new feature I wanted was the editor all being 64-bit, and it's faster and smoother dragging controls around.

Then decided to take the upgrade to Windows 11 and the compatibility checked said the motherboard lacked the Trusted Platform Module, but overcame that by enabling it in the BIOS, the tip is that the paragraph of options around the word TPM are all related and after each change, save and reboot back to the BIOS.

Then the Windows 11 Upgrade Assistant kept stopping with an error, the first tip is to make sure you have 64GB free disk and the second tip is to locate the upgrade assistant in the download folder and run as administrator.

I'm really happy with a good result, starting on my laptop now and so far the compatibility checker says the processor isn't supported, but the tip is to download and create Windows 11 installation media for a clean install and change some setting to get around it.

Will you get updates tho, if the processor isn't supported?

It's not clear. The i7-7700K meets all the minimum requirements otherwise.

My sister's partner is a computer programmer, but he didn't seem to think much of W11. I wonder if W11 will be the new W8? I.e. most people will wait until the next version comes out, sort of like how many people went straight from W7 to W10.

Looked at the features of Windows 11 and decided that I can and will live without it. T.P.M., Microsoft Account, access to Microsoft Store - No. Didn't even thank them for the offer.

No I don't accept your answer as being honest or true, I just accept that you don't have anything helpful to add so must resort to the lowest form of argument.

I feel like with your responses you are doing yourself a disservice by making yourself look insecure.

Now as for hating Windows, that is no true. I like Windows for certain applications and will build another Windows machine tomorrow. The hardware will be too old for the latest version of Windows, so will use the version of Windows from which the hardware originated. Windows ME.
