Do you want to wipe passwords only and leave the device useable or wipe the hard drive entirely?

Are you wiping the bios password or the Windows passwords?

Used to have a boot cd which wiped passwords back a few years ago. It was very quick to use and simple unfortunately I can't recall what or where it was/is anymore. Hmmmm......

Elcomsoft is the one I use. Never fails. Can also work from a flash drive.

Dammit it's just too long since I had to use one of these programs. I had two. One was one I had on cd and it was very very quick, last time I recall using it was probably 10 years ago or more for a family of a deceased client I'd had. She had died suddenly and they wanted to access the computer data etc.

I also had another one which I have set my brain on search mode to find, (It will sometime), it was a GUI running off usb key and it was good also. Hmmm....

The newer ones if set up properly and are the right hardware, you can't.
I.E BitLocker encrypted, new hard drive required and old hard drive unusable even in another machine, boot encrypted and locked to the motherboard it came from.

The older they are the better your odds. Some will require opening and shorting a jumper but some won't even let you do that. Case by case.

There are two sorts of passwords here, Bios passwords as I describe above and windows passwords which the other posts and mentioned software tools apply to.

got enough free space everywhere, including the c: drive - it might build the pe file on your pc first then move it to the usb

otherwise try again

There's a bit of special formatting required on the USB stick first, because it needs to be FAT32 and the Windows image is larger than the 4GB-1 limitation of FAT32. Follow this Microsoft guide:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufactur
e/desktop/winpe--use-a-single-usb-key-for-winpe-and-a-wim-fi
le---wim?view=windows-11

try a lovely little program called Yumi to create your usb key from the lazesoft iso.

https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

It's brilliant.
