Firefox has become an issue...

#Post
1

Hi all,

I use Firefox, and always been happy with it.

However, when trying and trying to log into my bank account, I rang ASB to ask them why I couldn't log in. Turns out, that it is a Firefox issue, as they suggested I try logging in using Microsoft Edge, and I was able to log into my bank account.

How can I change this, so that I can keep on using Firefox to log into everything??

Thanks.

No one can answer you, you have given absolutely no helpful information to help solve the problem.
What happens when you try to log in? Describe exactly what happens. Do you get an error message? Anything?
Multiple thousands of Firefox users in New Zealand log into their banks every day. Two of us in the house alone do it all the time.

I'll interpret the banks position for you.

We have a problem with Firefox when users access our internet banking, we know that, but we just haven't been able to sort it yet...

Solution: tell all users it's a Firefox problem...

despite what tam-n-save suggests, "Multiple thousands of Firefox users in New Zealand log into their banks every day"

OOps, fair enough.

So, I'm on the log on page. I click on "log in", and I end up where I started...on the log in page. So basically, nothing happens. I can't get past the log in page.

I can log in, using Microsoft edge though, so assume that it must be a FF issue?

I can log into ASB OK with Firefox. A couple of weeks ago for the first time I had to use the device they gave me as an extra login check. But I don't seem to need that now.

I found that my ASB App works far better on my Cellphone. The app for the Computer has been superceded.

I don't use bank apps but Hubby has ours on his phone. They all have pin logins and fingerprint. He likes that. Very quick to log into and you don't have to remember a password.

OP what operating programme are you using? Last year I was still using MS Vista and Firefox no longer supplied updates for Vista. ASB did some changes on their log in site and I suddenly became unable to do any internet banking with ASB. They were not interested in helping me sort the problem. In the end I had to get a PC with Win 10 and then it would work with Firefox and ASB

I am on Windows10.

I wonder if I should change from Firefox to something else.

I really do find it hard to figure these things out.

Thanks everyone for your help. I appreciate it.

Change to "Palemoon"
Originally a stripped down FF but now running it's own programming back end.
Looks/ feels the same as FF but runs faster

Very possibly an issue with 'pop up" windows/ transferring you to another page

Nonsense, I log in to ASB all the time with Firefox.
This is what happens when you listen to bank call centre people about IT issues. They have no idea.

Update the version and see what happens, or disable the addons and see if one of them is messing it up.

Try deleting the asb cookies in Firefox - that should solve it.
On the hamburger thing at top right, go to Settings, then to Privacy & Security on the left. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data and click Manage Data. Click on the heading Site to sort entries alphabetically so you can find and highlight the asb entry. Click Remove Selected and Save Changes.
