Maybe a clear description off what exactly happens might help.

Let me put it to you like this:

You: I have a car. It wont go - can anyone help ?
Mechanic: Can you give a clear description of what happens, (or doesn't).
You: I don't really know it just wont go.

As I say - a clear description of what EXACTLY you are doing and the resultant happening or non happening including error messages if any etc will help a lot. Imagine we, here, are blind and you have to describe to me what is going on because we might as well be as we can't see your computer, we can't see what you are clicking on and we can't see what happens or doesn't happen, (as per your expecations of what should happen).

I tried that already but when I go to the blue sign in button it doesn't change so it won't let me sign in. It's seems to have locked me out.

Just throw it in the bin and get a pad of paper and pencil for the future.

Have you tried restarting the device ?

There really nothing more to say sorry nice lady. This Chromebook came with a support person via a scheme for ppl with various special needs called the Digital Inclusion Alliance so I usually see him every 2nd week but I only saw him last Wednesday so he will amused to learn I cocked up something within 5 days.

He was very impressed me a while ago when I came here & got info on how to make shift key stay on so you can type in capitals without having to hold it down since it hasn't got a CAP LOCK KEY

Lets start here:

1: what do you click on to get Gmail on the device ?
2: what EXACTLY happens when you click on it ?

My saved bookmark, but so far today I've also tried getting it in the 9 dot square ( please give a name for it ) where you get the maps & tried googling it as above. I can't open Calendar in the 9 dot box thing either.

Open ANY webpage

In the address bar at the top where it says www. Whatever. Com....... Click there and type in www.gmail.com. then tap enter.

What happens?

When I push enter it just takes the www off & goes back to gmail.com

Earlier when I tried something it said 'about blank' in the address bar

post #6 is a classic example of what happens if you don't provide any and all information you can...
Someone suggests you can try this - you say I already tried that it doesn't work...

Obviously troubleshooting is painfully slow that way...

It's when I do it from the 9 dot square thing its says about blank in the page it opens. Same when I try open up calendar from there.

I know but I'm painfully slow too. I have a TBI & my short, short term memory is so bad you could say I'm number blind. It's not unsual for me to have to dial a number 2 or even 3 times before I get it right, even numbers I really do know bc I forget the digit I have just dialed, My short, short term is so short the brain injury unit can't measure it bc it's not even 1 second.

Writing is easier because I was formerly intelligent & I can proof read it before I push send. I do drop words / whole phases & word ending which is the worst bc I use did instead of didn't etc.

Yes there is.
Are you trying to access gmail via a browser to their webserver or using an email program?
What happens when you log in via browser on the chromebook, what is the error or what happens? And then, immediately using your phone to do the same thing, what happens.
For starters....

why are you not using the google apps to access the gmail, calendar, instead of faffing about in a browser ?

Can you get those on Windows? It sounds like they are using a Windows PC.
