Pretty basic but thats all I need
Any opinions on this brand.
Eg; good /ok/ crap even for the price

Doesn't appear to have a battery back up but I have a few spare power banks that I could link up & charge from the ciggy lighter socket)

Hubby uses an old smartphone. IT's ok but on hot days it tends to fail. Theres an app, (with very good free version available), called 'daily roads voyager' which runs the phone as a dash cam. Can be hard to get number plates if the other vehicle is approaching or passing pretty fast tho. A 'real' dashcam might be better suited I guess. We run it off the Cig lighter power tho it'll go for about maybe 2 hours on battery - it tends to chew about 1% per minute.

I bought a dashcam from a company that has now vanished. It records only the last minute even though there's plenty of space for a long journey. The instructions are just horrible. Tell us if the Jaycar one works OK.

Ask them if you take it for a demo, if so reveiw your recording and see if you can read number plates ok. I got a ddpai off amazon which I'm quite happy with, pbtech sell them now too.

There’s some reviews and good information on choosing a camera here https://dashcamownersaus.com.au/buying-guide/
If you watch their compilations you can see how important it is to choose a good camera that records a clear image as well as camera placement.

Well yeah - closer to the Workshop than Home :)

But, when your workshop is the Tardis - what does a little time & distance matter !

Do the mahi ,
as post 5 says.
for $58 you get $58 worth of dash cam, sweet f.a.
At least look up the range on trade me and see if any are showing on the aussie site.
A good one is any where up to $400 if you want to read the number plates and see at night. and will pay for itself at the first accident.
I bought one for $70 off here with front and rear cameras thats ok and will do what i want it to but not too hot at night and struggles if the sun is too bright from the wwrong angle.

Does it matter? You looked at that one, you obviously read up on it first. Then you find who has the one you want at the cheapest price.

True but if I hadn't seen the first one, I would have been buying almost totally blind from the other site
