Cellphone-incoming mgs ok but not calls

#Post
1

We have cleared voicemail, messages, but still cant get incoming calls. When they use our name from their list of contacts, we don't get a call, but if they dial our number, we get the call. This applies to several people. Friends growl at us for not answering. Its turned on, sounď on, volume up.
Suggestions please.

Do you mean several people have this issue when calling you ?

If you have more than one phone handy you could try putting your sim card into a different phone and get someone to call. That would then show if the problem lies in the particular phone settings or some issue with the provider perhaps.

Also see if you can work out if all the callers who have this issue with calling you belong to only one provider, say for example this problem is only happening when friends who are on Voda call for instance

Ok well you have a process of elimination to do then see if you can work out where the problem is. Come back with the results.

Not an iPhone involved by any chance? As I found out they can do weird things at times. I had to delete few contacts including all call ant text history as the iPhone started to misdial some numbers. Phone company finally picked up the misdial. Had no idea why. That’s when I contacted Apple. They seemed aware of it and helped me sort it out. After I entered all the details it all worked fine again.

You haven’t accidentally blocked those numbers?

If so how would they be able to call by manually dialing ?

I'd suggest calling the friends and getting them to read back the number they have stored in their contacts against your name. I'd added someone from their first call, and it turned out they'd been using some temporary SIM from overseas and it was completely the wrong number.

Firstly.
picking at it will probably take a long time unless you are really lucky.
Best overall is this ....
Back up your personal data to SD/ email/ cloud etc (take your pick)
Perform a factory reset of the phone & then do it again.
Update the software as needed & try it again.
If it's still playing up, then ring your ph account supplier & talk to them about resetting your ph number/ account on their server.

By doing the factory reset first, it may fix it or at least cut down on potential issues when talking to the ph company

Those are good ideas but I'd suggest firstly before anything else to simply switch the sim card to a different phone and see if that works or continues to be a problem. That'll narrow down the probabilities.

Unable at present to get hold of another phone to try this.

You only need another phone for 5 mins to test this.
