our 8 yr old kid accidently sent a silly message with a family photo from my gmail to one of his teacher. we've deleted the message but suspect the notification of the message would have already reached the teacher and cannot be reversed?

What do you mean you've deleted the message?

And was this from a mobile or computer?

he shared a photo from google photos (via tablet) and added a comment. we could delete the message at our end but i think notification of the photo shared with the message added would have already reached her email inbox. not sure if we can call that back.

I'd suggest sending another message apologizing for the mistake.

No, it's impossible to "recall" an email once sent. As evident by my inbox which often contains deals from various stores, quickly followed by a "sorry we messed up, here is the correct price/date/picture", whatever email. I haven't thought about it but maybe one day systems will be clever enough to recall or edit unread emails?

Go for #4 suggestion and send another explaining it.

you can unshare the photo though. the email will contain a link, but the link will no longer work if you changed the sharing setting in google photos.

Revoke the sharing privilege, that will give them an error message when they click the link in the sent email.

And no it's not impossible to 'unsent'an email on Gmail but you have to set up that function in advance and you only have 30 seconds to unsend.

This is actually a marketing tactic and not a mistake at all.

.

And maybe one day you might do a tiny little bit of research prior to posting ?
