Asbestos fence removal.

#Post
1

I wish to remove an asbestos fence 19m long 1.9m high, in good condition, easy access and the panels are screwed on with screws that come out easily. I could easily do the job myself but all sorts of regulations seem to be in the way. Can anyone recommend a business that could do this job in Christchurch?

And are you 100% sure it is asbestos?

And specifically disposal .... The Christchurch City Council’s Transfer Station in Metro Place, Bromley is the only facility accepting asbestos drop off. They have strict criteria around accepting loads. This includes it being securely double wrapped in 250 micron plastic polythene. Please contact them directly for details 03 941 7513.

Having legally disposed of asbestos its not biggie.

It was required to be delivered on a pallet, double wrapped.

If you can get the sheets off intact, do so carefully, spray plenty of water around to keep any potential dust down, and lay them flat on the ground on top of a sheet of plastic.

Then I would get a trailer, put a pallet in and double thick layer of black plastic, carefully stack the sheets, then wrap and secure with tape.

you will need to go across a weighbridge, so allow a bit of time.

Thenafter all this faffing around, our pallet was carefully picked up and tipped into a bin with everything spilling out, good init.

Then with the small fortune you have saved yourself, go out to dinner.

Thanks for the advice. The advice from the transfer station was helpful .I have decided to do this job myself as my neighbor was quoted $3500 to do this job.

Only friable material needs specialist removal according to this info.

Just completed the fence removal at a total cost of $550. No dust ,no problems and great help from the council staff at Dyers road dump.
