ok, well its not technically free but farmside have offered unlimited data in level 4 and 3 lockdown. from 12pm to 5 pm. they sent me a email saying it would be ending. i sent a email back and said we are still in level 3 where i am. they replied back and said yes thats right. sorry it was a mistake and we will reinstate your 'allowance". so yesterday i watched a couple of tv series over the morning, probably a couple of hours in total, sd . then i watched a shorty street. and that was b4 5 pm. then a movie in the evening. and it said i used 14 gb. im like wtf. so am i WRONG IN THINKING, and i dont give a shit if u think im thick, that the stuff i watched b4 5pm shouldnt count towards my gbs???i have sent them a email which they responded , but they still havnt got back to me as yet to the question im asking you lot.

Well they might not charge you for the data but they are potentially still metering it right ?

not sure what the question is really but IF they have a policy of free data before 5pm, then obviously any data used prior to 5pm shouldn't count towards it... you didn't start watching earlier than 12 perhaps?

All ISPs have a portal you can log into and see what your actual data usage is, this is probably the best place to get the information
probably here
https://myfarmside.co.nz/login

Another point, there are other forms of data usage that can use large chunks of data, a windows pc for example could easily use 2-3GB if it was downloading an update... even phone /tablet updates are well over a GB nowdays

well that was my question, but u just actually answered it. all i wanted to know was if , just say i watched heaps of things in the day, and not one single thing, afer 5pm, then i wouldnt have any data used showing up on the graph. thats why i was asking ,you, am i right in thinking that way?

You really have to wait for them to get back to you on it because as I said:

there will always be small amounts of data showing up as long as any device is connected to the wifi. Probably even the modem on its own would use some data that would be counted...
