new Acer laptops sound sucks

#Post
1

got everything as high as it can go and still can barely hear it. someone suggested changing the speaker option to Dolby but all the speaker options are set to Default and have no other options available. anyone have any ideas how to boost the volume or is the only way to download a media player of some sort, listen through headphones or get external speakers, or am i just stuck with it? if there is any options, am far from computer savvy so any suggestions re going to this setting or that one or trying this or that download need to be in Dumb :D

Post the exact model might help.

I've got an Acer and it sounds like a laptop. Bluetooth it to a compatible amp and good speakers and it sounds good. Bluetooth it to some wireless noise cancelling headphones and it sounds even better.

Have you got the volume control on the application turned up? (like, the YouTube volume control?)

My old Toshiba (excellent condition but still, old) laptop has really bad sound too. So I just do as above - Bluetooth to my Bose soundlink speaker, or skullcandy crusher wireless headphones - amazing sound from both of those.

thank you :) shame - was hoping there was something i could do within the laptop itself. its kinda weird they decided to go for great graphics, storage and speed but thought "oh, it being quiet even on 100% is a fab idea." am quite annoyed - wasn't exactly cheap and got it to watch things on and for games so kinda thought for that price and all those graphics/storage/speed features its volume would also be up to par.

You say 'new', how long have you had it? (days, weeks months?) - if it's still a current model, go back or take it back to where you bought it and compare the volume using the same media source to another identical model. You might find it's actually faulty, the volume should be loud enough that you can watch and hear a movie, or music comfortably in a quiet room. If another is the same, then I guess it's a suck design. But if another identical model is much better, get it fixed.

Definitely sounds like something is wrong, whether it is software or hardware I don't know. Have you checked the audio driver, is it up to date? My new Asus is set to 55% and that is loud enough for most youtube and movie videos.

just take it back to where you bought it, let them fix it.
