How is that "Apple screwing..." rather than the EU being dictatorial?

Yeah Apple won't have a choice

Apple refuse to switch to only usb c
The lightening connector has been admitted as a way of keeping specific customers onboard & have no intention of changing those devices.
It's just more confusion then needed

They'll have to provide both then once the EU makes USB C mandatory.

Only for a short term with current new devices while they redesign all future products to have USB C only.
Aftermarket is a different story & always has been
Apple said they have no intention of ever completely removing the lightening connector from production of some models.

Or instead use USB4 which runs over a USB-C connector, as Apple already do with their current model M1-based iMacs, Macbooks, Mac Mini and Tiger-Lake laptops.

Yeah I know, I have one in my car, (USB c, micro and lightning on one cable with USB a end) meant with the apple one that comes with it.
