Think of how many hours per day you spend in the bathroom. Heating will need to be on all the time or it really is no use at all.

Slippers are cheaper.

We put under tile heating in kitchen and ensuite but never turned it on in the 10 years we were there. A waste of power for the short time it would be used, easier to have mats and slippers although we built for all day winter sun so that helped keep both rooms very warm.

I have underfloor heating in my ensuite - I love it! It is on for about 5 months of the year and makes no noticeable difference to the power bill. It is only there to take the chill off the tiles - not to try and heat the room, mind you.
I probably wouldn't bother in the main bathroom, but for my little oasis of ablutions and beauty - it's bliss. I also have the expensive soap and super-soft toilet paper in there because that's how I roll.

cinderellagowns > sounds awesome that’s I want !! Everyone have different thoughts. For me , bath time is very important. If I would build the house 1st thing to think was bathroom.

If the Slab is not an insulated one heating is a waste of time/money ,same for timber floor they must be insulated underneath .

Would not be without ours. It’s a treat and on the south side of our wooden house so keeps the house dry as well.

We have it, never use it. Just put down wood floors, much kinder on your feet and warmer.

We have had it on timber and slab floors. No insulation, works just fine. Would never be without in bathroom and toilet.

We have it in bathroom, toilet and ensuite. Wouldnt even consider not putting it in under tiles if I built again. Minimal power use if it has a thermostat AND timer and you only use a few hours per day.

I had it and love it - would especially recommend it in a tiled bathroom, which can be very cold without. Get a timer fitted too - you only need it on for a few hours in the morning and evening, when you are most likely to be using the bathroom. The rest of the day, the tiles will retain some heat. And if you have cats, they will LOVE it in winter! ;-)

Current house has it in three bathrooms, costs an arm and a leg. They seem to run very hot so think it is older system with no thermostat. Ended up setting controller to turn on and off for small periods to heat the floor. Last two years have left the CB's in fuse box switched off and not missed it.

Last house had it in bathrooms and it seemed to keep the temperature very low, I suspect it had thermostats built in (was newer system). That worked well.

I recommend a PDL digital controller that let's you set on off times with your phone via bluetooth. Much easier that the old ones which require a thousand button presses to make a change.
