Question? Can you still have a messenger account without Facebook. Asking for someone who would only use messenger. Thanks

I had Messenger but didn't use Facebook. Quite awhile ago it wouldn't work and I had to sign up again by making a Facebook account. I don't use Facebook, just the independent Messenger app on my phone or on my laptop.

Sort of like what maz says^^^^^ . Set up the accounts then deactivate the FB account.

You can use messenger without a facebook account at all. I do it myself.
The only issues I have is problems with some people not being able to see my profile picture, and I can't message people first. They need to message me, then we can communicate indefinitely.
