I took a 30 minutes video using Olympus TG5 camera. It plays only the seven minutes and the rest just sound with no pictures. I tried VLC but did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Encode it through 'handbrake'. It can some times restore the picture and audio. Worst comes to worst you'll still have the original.

How many minutes of the video play when the card is in the camera, using the play mode?

If the camera that recorded it won't show the video, then I'd suspect the end of the video is blank.

I've repaired videos using a hex editor, but that was a very specific problem caused by recuva.

On the camera, it played seven minutes and stopped. On VLC player, it played seven minutes and the display stuck on the last frame but the sound kept playing till the end of video of 29 minutes long.
Is it still repairable? Thanks.

I would record another 7 minute video and maybe another 29 minute one, in the same way as the original. Then you may be able to compare file sizes of each with your problem video. That would probably give you a fair indication of whether it has actually recorded any video data in the original file, and hence whether it is worthwhile pursuing recovery of the video data
