omg. a friend on fb just sent me a photo, and

#Post

underneath that photo was a whole lot of other little baby icon photos. so i clicked on them and they were all her photos. so does that mean i have seen all those other photos b4 and its those ones she has already sent me.? and thats the one shes sent me? or didnt she KNOW that i could see those photos? i never really thought about it, but i had SEEN most of the photos. but then i sent a photo to someone, who i dont know that well, and i looked at the photo after i sent it, and then saw MYSELF, MY little icons of photos that are on my phone, etc. so i thought , f$K and quickly deleted it, cause i didnt want her to see my photos cause there were surgical photos on there. do u get what i mean? so how the f do , when u send a photo, not have those little icons come up. and is it only phone photos that do it. i havnt used my camera for years, but there are camera photos on there.

I really can't answer that. without more info.

Just HOW exactly did the friend send you the photo ?
email ? Text message ? Facebook messenger ? Jungle drums ?

ok. when i sent the friend MY photo, that was thru fb messenger. and my friend who sent me her photo was also thru fb messenger. and i just had another look at other photos, and yes, a lot of them, not all, i can see the little baby icons down the bottom, and if u click on them, u can see all her other photos.

what exact process do you use to send a pic thru FB messenger ? personally I'd just long press on the photo and 'share' to messenger ?

Or from within the messenger program tap the picture icon next to the text box, choose the photo from the available pictures by tapping it then tap send .

is this what you're doing ?

You guys must be not sending individual photos but basically linking to your photo ALBUM ?

um. i write my message, and i think theres a little camera picture there that u can access your "my pictures", so i looked thru my pictures to show her what i wanted, and i clicked on the photo and it came up, so i just pressed send.

just had another look. it says "attach a photo or video". so i clicked on that one.

I believe that's what I'm doing also but I certainly don't send all my photos ? are you sure you're sending ONE photo from within an album ? - not just cliking on an album ?

when i click on the attach photo or video icon, a separate box comes up to the left. and its got my pc up the top, and down the left its got desktop downloads documents, pictures etc. so i click on my pictures. and the box comes up with sometimes one picture, sometimes 4. so i click on the one i want to SEND, and its highlighted with a darker line around the individual photo, then i click open, and that opens it up into my messenger box.

The row of small icons at the bottom of the FB photo viewer is showing you thuumbnails of all of the other photos in that conversation.

Just checked that in messenger and had two photos sent to me with text inbetween them and there's no 'small icons at the bottom" ?

so how do i stop all the other ones getting sent then, if i only want one sent, which i thought i had highlighted for that ONE only to be sent?

OK, this almost happened to me the other day - I almost sent my whole 500+ photos to my work messenger group.
So.... you need to change your settings - mine was on my ipad so went to settings >> messenger>> photos>>> add photos only (mine WAS set on 'all photos')
But sounds like you're on a PC? Will go look at it and see if there's a setting there.... bear with...

In the photo viewer you can only highlight one photo. You can't shift-click or alt-click to select multiple photos like you can in, say, explorer. Therefore you can only forward one photo at a time from the FB photo viewer.

OK if you're on a PC it's easy - just put the photo(s) you want to send, onto your desktop.
Then, when you have the message open, where you want to send a pic to your friend, just drag and drop the pics onto the message box and hit send.

lol - what device, phone, tablet, desktop - what OS, C/PM, 3.1?

My observation is the small icons at the bottom take a few seconds to load, presume there's some processing going on at the server to make the list. It doesn't show videos either 'cause it's the photo viewer rather than a media viewer.

Does the FB photo viewer look like this on your desktop? There's 3 thumbnails beneath the main photo.

For sure, some people get different versions of FB, such as trials or previews, and there's probably options for this or that.

Seriously?, "C/PM, 3.1", she already said FB Messenger, show me a C/PM or 3.1 OS running that? - talk about adding ridiculous irrelevant noise to clutter a topic. KISS !

Katybaty, can you specify what you're using the messenger on? PC/laptop, tablet, phone? What device?

Post #9 details it's on a Windows pc.

Did you notice whom I quoted in that post? Perhaps do you want to glance at the last line of post #2. Why are you picking on me?

And yes, I'm looking at FB messenger, I'm seeing the same row of small icons at the bottom that the OP talks about. And as I've said, what you see might be different on a mobile or if FB gives you a different version to experience.

Oh right. All she needs to do (to make it easy to explain to her) is put the photo on desktop, make her messenger 'window' a bit smaller, then drag and drop the photo into the messenger 'message' box. Hit send.

I can't help but notice you haven't actually posted any actual on-topic advice in this thread. If you're the self-appointed messageboard sheriff, why don't you start a thread laying out the rules?

And when I quoted nice-lady and mentioned C/PM - I started the post with "lol" - did you miss that? As Tommy Chong says, "Dave's not here"...
