I have forgotten how to insert gridlines onto an excel sheet. Google says go to view page layout but I cannot see page page layout, Please help

It is called calc spreadsheet in Libra.

Yes I'm well aware of that but it's still not excel.

And those the controls and method of doing things are different.

I'm not sure whether this is what you're trying to achieve but I did this in Libre Office 6.4 so it'll be pretty much the same in 6.3:

You firstly highlight the area you want by dragging the mouse over an area then you clik BORDERS (shown with the vertical arrow in the pic), then you clik whichever one of the border choices you want, (I used the one at the bottom right), then you'll see it has put the chosen 'grid' into the highlighted area.

Select Format then Page then sheet & check the box Gridlines
This will stay like this until you untick it

Tools - Options - LibreOfficeCalc - Grid. Tick visible grid.
NiceLadys post is borders which is not the same thing as showing gridlines.

it's debatable whether OP actually meant gridlines, or borders...
