Disc with coloured lights on screen

#Post

Does anyone have this? It pops up often, stays a few minutes

Bit more detail, this is an oval disc with four colored lights, appears on tv screen for few minutes, then its gone. Maybe to do with the buttons on the remote. Would like to know what it is for.

And the TV make/model is?
And do you have it connected top any set to boxes - sky/Freeview etc ?

On the screen of what??? Computer, Laptop, TV??

That would be quite cool on a mobile, an instant disco party.

edit: it appears as a hint to press one of the 4 similarly coloured buttons on the remote to select a shortcut, such as running the Freeview app.

They mentioned Remote so I'm guessing a TV

Ok considering it would take about two minutes at most to get a photo on this message board perhaps you could consider it - just to satisfy our curiosity !

they correspond to a menu button on the remote, mine has a similar one, the manual describes as...

4 Colour buttons
Use these coloured buttons to
access additional options specific to
the feature in use.

Probably the same as the row of physical colored buttons that were/are on other remotes

And it might be that the application hasn't assigned any additional options to the buttons, and pressing them might not do anything.

Of course thats what I assumed initially, as per #2. Pressing them on the remote doesnt do anything. (Except the yellow offers 'language') When it appears on tv, not each time but some times a message in small green writing shows along the bottom, but it's gone in a split second.

Guess those coloured buttons on screen will show whenever watching a movie or programme that supports the old teletext features i.e. subtitles

is this menu showing up randomly or in response to you pressing the button on the remote. Presumably if the latter the obvious solution is don't press the button on the remote is it not?

It is indeed, how obvious is that. But no, I don't press the button at will, and yes, it shows up randomly.

To those who may have been interested.
After a long time the reply from Sky - no, nothing to do with Sky
Reply from Samsung - not the television, its your Sky

The upshot of that - the disc with lights has not returned.

Thanks for taking the time to think about it.
