Casting from Laptop to TV

#Post
1

Recently bought a new TV - Samsung 55HX950 - and am having issues trying to cast to it from my laptop which is a Lenovo Ideapad S340
The TV has the chromecast app on it.
This is the message I get when open the cast option on my laptop:
55HX950 Series (which is the tv) and underneath says
Available for specific video sites

Does this mean I can cast from specific video sites only?
Any help would be appreciated...thanks

what do you mean :

"when open the cast option on my laptop"

Please be very specific about the exact steps you are doing

Usually you can cast from google chrome for any site you visit at all.

If you google the message you get some results like:

Assuming your laptop and TV are on the same home wifi network and you are running Windows10, simply right click the video file, choose "cast to device", the TV should show and choose it. No need for chrome or chromecast.

Thanks for the replies.
This is what I do to get the cast option - go to the 3 dots on the far right hand side of my browser, - am using google chrome - left click, scroll down to the word cast, click on it and thats when it brings up the message I posted above.
I will also look at the link posted above

Samsung TV's don't have Chromecast built in they use their own casting protocol I believe (I could be wrong). So you will only be able to cast certain apps, programs.

A 55HX950 is actually a Sony TV.

Samsung support AirPlay2

Oh gosh, apologies for the wrong info in the original post. I had the right model of tv but it the brand is actually Panasonic. We did have a Samsung of some sort on order but it was unable to be supplied so my husband chose the Panasonic instead. That makes me sound a bit dumb doesn't it - but the TV buying in our house hasn't ever been my forte!
I have read the link supplied above and it looks like a few people have had the same issue with varying degrees of success.
The laptop and tv are on the same home wi-fi network
I did try the suggestion of right clicking when I had the video on my laptop screen but the same message still came up

Maybe try something like this:
• Turn on your TV and press the [APPS] button on your TV’s remote.
• Select the application [MIRRORING] using the navigational buttons on your remote, then press [OK].
• When prompted if you would like to start mirroring, press [OK] on the remote.
• On your device (e.g. your smartphone) settings menu, select “Screen Mirroring”.
• Select your TV’s model number on your smart device.
• Press [OK] on the remote."

There is a very easy way to connect them. Connect the TV to the Ideapad with an HDMI cable.

not so easy to use if the laptop/tv is 15 feet from your easy chair.

panasonic screen mirroring is garbage. its very laggy, and has artifacts, and high CPU usage, very large bandwidth demands.
