Printer Issues

#Post

Hi I have a new laptop an Acer Aspire. I can`t get my 8 year old Brother DCP-J140W printer to work. The printer comes with a CD but the laptop has no CD drawer. The message I get is Driver not found. Are the laptop and printer not compatible or can I download something. TIA .

All you do is download the driver (from the manufacturers website) - and if you want it - any software for scanning etc....and follow the install instructions.

Usually it's start the install, wait for it to tell you to connect the printer.

Windows usually picks it up itself though so you may not even need to.

Have you plugged the printer to the laptop via USB or are you trying to do it wirelessly.

Yep. The manufacturers always have the driver and software packs available. It's cheaper for them than providing cd's and many/most computers don't have disk drives now anyway.
