Permanent marker for plastic?

| 1 | I'd like to write on a plastic storage box. Are there any markers which wouldn't rub off or smudge? If not, any other suggestions, aside from writing the list of contents on paper and fixing it with cellotape? | 5 | Thanks folks, I'll get a Sharpie. I did consider a label on the inside facing out, but the plastic is thick and the lid is blue, so the label wouldn't show up clearly. | 11 | Bit late to this, but: There is a pint pen that i bought for this purpose about 15 years ago. Even survived lots of times through the dishwasher.
