I would be interesting to see the actual figures / maths on how the LL came up with the figure of $2500.
I suspect the news item has been a bit frugal with it words... perhaps it should read the LL gave some, and I suspect a small bit, of the net profit to the ex-tenant. Given this is all happened in the USA, the cynic in me thinks that there may have also been a tax advantage in this LL "donation"
