Gas water heating for stand alone unit

| I have a new self contained unit being delivered soon. Water heating is via gas cylinder. I do not want to hire a 45kg cylinder as in two years I would have paid for the cylinder with the rental fees. The unit will only be used periodically. does anybody have any idea how long a 12 ky cylinder night last for showers and sink? I know it will be a total guess but thinking 12 kg should last a while if it is not everyday. What do others have? melinda1 - 2021-08-15 08:52:00 |
| i don't know how long it lasts for, but family have the same setup. tweake - 2021-08-15 10:11:00 |
| Thanks tweake- that was my thinking have two small ones and refill as needed - big cylinders would be overkill in my opinion. melinda1 - 2021-08-15 10:34:00 |

Friends live in their converted garage and they use 9kg bottles for the gas hot water and cooking. I hire the 45kg bottles. One lasts me 4 to 6 months depending on who is visiting and my new powerful shower set up is not helping. And now that I am older I just can't be fagged lugging 9kg bottles around. And I enjoy the visits from the boys that deliver the bottles lol. joanie04 - 2021-08-15 10:42:00 |
| Thanks Joanie04. Undecided but thinking maybe 2 12 kgs but like you say then the hassle of filling melinda1 - 2021-08-15 14:03:00 |
| Getting exchange 9kg's will cost double the price of a 45kg delivered.. m16d - 2021-08-15 14:52:00 |
| Thanks m16d - was looking at 12kg bottles - as wont be used a lot as opposed to hiring a 45kg for irregular use. What does it cost to fill a 45kg? melinda1 - 2021-08-15 15:31:00 |

| 2 of us, both working, but 9kg gas for all hot water lasts about a month in winter, 3 months in summer. Use hasn't changed over several years. i can't safely manage a 12kg cylinder. (57yo small female). Looking to get a cart for the 9kg, lol. Mr Z has a very stuffed shoulder. zirconium - 2021-08-16 16:28:00 |

| Back in maybe 2002 or 2003 I was working at the Mobil in Ferrymead and someone bought down a 45 kg gas bottle for me to fill. Was a bit unusual but I filled it all the same. tygertung - 2021-08-17 12:23:00 |

| Well my mum lives in our family flat, and has gas for water heating (shower and kitchen sink). She has short showers (unlike me) and a 45kg gas bottles lasts a whole year!!! Three of us live in the main house, and go through a bottles every 6 weeks or so at the moment. Go figure! sam447 - 2021-08-18 21:09:00 |
