| A black and white laser and take your rare colour prints to a bureau. ronaldo8 - 2021-08-13 18:14:00 |
| Yes laser (non colour) printer is cheap to run. Maybe a separate ink jet for the odd colours prints and for doing scans. It will depend on how many prints you are doing a month for which printer. duncb - 2021-08-13 21:40:00 |
| if all your mostly going to use it for text then go for a b&w laser printer - if you add scanning / copying into the mix then look for a laser printer / scanner / copier Me - i have a brother DCP-1610w ....it was quick and easy to setup & can be connected via wifi if i want it away from the computer which at times ( kids photocopying ) can be a bonus , its toner ( ink ) can do roughly 1500 pages and being a laster .... it needs a drum unit - that can do 10,000 ... going from the blurb on the box - ive had my printer almost 3 years and have yet to replace the drum but aftermarket toner & drum are around $14+shipping and the drum $28+shipping so works out great costwise Edited by trade_menow at 11:24 pm, Fri 13 Aug trade_menow - 2021-08-13 23:23:00 |

| I have always stuck with Brother laser for black printing. The toner (ink) cartridge is separate from the drum and I find that by the time I need a new drum it's cheaper to by a new (cheapest) printer. A system that has served me well for very many years. Other brands of laser printer combine the drum and toner, so you end up buying a new drum every time you need toner. raewyn2 - 2021-08-14 10:02:00 |
| For a colour inkjet consider the epson eco tank - it has integral ink tanks that you fill from bottles - ink cost is way cheaper than ink cartridges. The printer itself is more expensive but per page printing cost is a lot less jazzyemery - 2021-08-21 16:48:00 |
| Yes, eco tank printers are great, our Epson has been faultless and cheap to run for about 5 years, there are now several others on the market. shinedog - 2021-08-21 17:32:00 |
| Just cost me $25 incl postage for 6 full sized cartridges for our Canon PIXMA printer. Ink is only expensive if you buy OEM . There's really no need to throw away money like that. nice_lady - 2021-08-21 17:42:00 |
