1 | After my hard drive spat the dummy and ceased to exist, i had it replaced. Since getting it back I notice several cumulative updates download but cant install them. Get to 100% install then error message. Running win10 and seems to be only the quality updates. springgrove - 2021-08-13 09:35:00 |

6 | Run disk cleanup on the drive, (right-click on C:) and select properties, then "Disk Cleanup". Personally, I tick all the entries, but you can just go with the defaults if you prefer. Let it do its thing and when finished do a complete shutdown (power off) and try again. If still no go, do the same thing but this time click the option for "Clean up system files". It may just be all that's needed. Or, if your're nervous about that, go back to the dude (or dudette) and let he/she/them/they take another look cookee_nz - 2021-08-14 00:43:00 |
7 | They seem to be missing in action and not returning messages. Will give that a go and thanks for the reply. springgrove - 2021-08-14 07:38:00 |

Note that in the "Clean up system files" option, there is specifically "Windows Update Clean-up", probably at the top of the list. Definitely make sure that one is selected cookee_nz - 2021-08-14 12:22:00 |

16 | Have you tried uninstalling dot net framework 3.5 ? What about repairing windows ? followed by and if it finds issues bitsnpieces2020 - 2021-08-14 17:41:00 |
17 | I am willing to give most things a go and like to do my best at trying to fix things and I am learning a lot. Have tried all but the first one but when I first searched the error code it said to try turning win 3.5 and the next in line off (cant remember the number 4.)? Not sure if that is the same thing as you suggest. springgrove - 2021-08-16 08:44:00 |
18 | if this is a relatively new install I would be inclined to sit back and wait a couple of months. Often updates require prerequisites which may not always be available, other times it will try to install an update and pretty much decide its not needed. I've seen the odd one fail to install month after month, then eventually install months later Edited by king1 at 8:51 am, Mon 16 Aug king1 - 2021-08-16 08:50:00 |
19 | When I last installed Windows (when I get a new primary Samsung 980 Pro SSD) I had this same thing with the new Windows install too - same sort of issues around .net framework. I tried all fixes that I could think of and found online but couldn't resolve it. I ended up creating a new USB installer and just doing another clean install of Windows 10 and have since upgraded to Windows 11. There have been no issues since I did this. This all happened 2 or 3 months back. cube_guy - 2021-08-16 09:01:00 |
20 | Yeah well an refresh of the install wouldn't take much Effort or time. nice_lady - 2021-08-16 10:05:00 |
21 | Hard drive was fried apparently and new one fitted on 1/07, they couldn't clone the old one so new install of windows. springgrove - 2021-08-16 11:07:00 |

I haven't installed 10, but even 7 takes less than 20 minutes on an ancient laptop. tygertung - 2021-08-16 13:31:00 |

Just do a refresh. It'll take an hour at most and may fix the problem. Choose the 'keep your files' option. nice_lady - 2021-08-16 13:54:00 |
