I copied all user files from my old Ubuntu machine to an external drive, but missed the bookmarks (because Firefox puts them in a stupid place).
I don't know if the old machine works any more.
I wish Firefox would just keep things simple.

it's not difficult to export bookmarks in Firefox
settings -> bookmarks -> manage bookmarks ( or ctrl shift O)

you can export from there
