I want to transfer from my current to a new one, wondering what everyone's experiences with various registrars in NZ are. Or overseas, I suppose. - Since I host on Lightsail (AWS), there is a certain appeal in using their Route53 service, especially I'm not really sure I subscribe to the old rule of thumb to keep your registrar and your hosting separate anymore.

I have three domains, two of which are .nz domains (in case that is relevant).

I was with domainsforless which was, well, it worked, but slowly any price advantage they had disappeared. They recently got bought by crazy domains who, aside from having a busy UI sent me an email saying something along the lines of "you are at risk of losing your domain! renew it now!" - 80 days away from it running out. Then they did it again about 60 days from running out. So that has annoyed me enough to spend elsewhere.

The domain name registrar and hosting company - for a website - are 2 different things. You can combine them, but you don't have to.

no complaints about any of them, pricing is much the same and support via online chat gets results.
