| Any help appreciated. My 8 years old 50” Samsung tv began showing fault with several lines down one end of screen. 6 years old so not a worry. barrie2 - 2021-08-09 12:15:00 |
| If 6 years old that's died a bit young. You said 8 yrs then 6 .... nice_lady - 2021-08-09 12:18:00 |
| If the capacitors in the power supply are bulging, they need replacing, for about $7 from Jaycar. trade4us2 - 2021-08-10 21:41:00 |
| However with today's lead free solder, they are not as easy to replace. tygertung - 2021-08-11 08:00:00 |

| If it's only 6 years old I'd be going the CGA route. nice_lady - 2021-08-11 08:22:00 |
| Confusing? What I was trying to say was the tv, when 6 years old, began to have lines down right hand side of screen. barrie2 - 2021-08-11 14:31:00 |
| You should have gotten it fixed or replaced at the 6yr stage. You could have very likely had a good case under the CGA and got it sorted for no cost nice_lady - 2021-08-11 15:32:00 |

| You wouldn't have needed an extended warranty, under the Consumer Guarantee Act an appliance is expected to last for a reasonable period. A reasonable period for a tv is 7 to 8 years. Therefore at 6 years old the retailer would have been obliged to fix or replace the tv at no cost to you. jonnythecat - 2021-08-12 17:51:00 |
| DON'T buy extended warranties they're a waste of money. The CGA protects you well. If you didn't already know then the following pages might help you: https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/4-year-old-tv-stops-wor nice_lady - 2021-08-12 17:51:00 |
