How to get water out of iphone?

#Post
1

My partner has left her iphone 12 out in heavy rain for 5 hours this afternoon.
The volume is very soft.
Weve put it in a bag of rice.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Turn it off. Water and electric components are not a good mix. If it's a 'water resistant' phone it *might* be alright and it possibly only has water in the speaker muffling it perhaps. Otherwise you need to turn it off and cross your fingers and put it somewhere mildly warm for a few day - hotwater cupboard perhaps ?

Failing that it's an insurance claim.

Rice is a myth.

Bung in oven overnight at a very low temp, 50 degrees or less. I did this once to an MP3 player which went underwater at a river crossing, you could see the water sloshing around inside of it. Worked fine the next day. Have also done it to several phones.

I put my one on top of the hot water cylinder (if you have one) I thought the sound was gone for good but it came right once it dried out. Somewhere with very mild heat should work.

You can find articles saying the earth is flat too, doesn't mean it's true.

Read:

phone-rice-dry/

Forget the I said so so it works crap.

Any dissecant will absorb moisture, dry rice is a dissecant, end of. Your article raises the bogeyman of getting rice inside the phone, presumably via the headphone jack, the only orifice big enough, this all in order to frighten you into using their phone fixing $ervice. Hardly compelling.

Its an iphone, it doesn't have a headphone jack.

Turn it off, put it in some dessicant, rice if you don't have anything better and or an oven as advised at 50.

If its still kaput the next day then replace it.

?? The IPhone 12 is IP68 rated. The volume is low because the speaker cavity is water logged - blow in the speaker ports give it a shake, or download a speaker water eject app and run it.
No harm done

Yeah iphone 12 is basically water proof.
https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT207043
IP68 is 6 metres for 30 minutes, it can be in the rain for days.

Run the "water eject" sound to push the water out from the speaker. Otherwise the iPhone12 is waterproof.

Don't charge it until it is dry/
