Replace DVD with SSD

#Post
1

I have a Dell Optiplex SFF 9020 with a SSD and a DVD. The DVD has connectors that are different to a SSD. I have seen a Youtube video showing the replacement of the DVD with an SSD with an adapter caddy.
Any idea where I can get this caddy - note it has to interface with the DVD connectors.

Tried that but the caddies listed have std SSD connectors. It needs to interface with CD/DVD connectors. The Youtube video showed this specific caddy.

The manual describes a sata interface to the DVD, and you can certainly buy SSD's with a sata interface. Perhaps your SSD has an M2 interface, that Dell motherboard doesn't have an M2 socket.

Nice_lady - not sure how to do that. Will see what I can do.
Gyro - the SATA data interface is compatible but the power connector on the ssd is multipin but the cd connector is a six pin

A Dell SFF PC uses a laptop DVD drive, maybe search for a laptop SATA adapter.

you can usually get a 1 to 2 adapter cable for power cables. so could use this on the original SSD power cable

That's it!
Buy a laptop HDD caddy and a Y cable for power.
Well done everyone, thank you.

Isn't the DVD connector just power & data combined ie next to each other on a single plug, but fit every SATA device as their power / data sockets are exactly the same?
