You can save to wherever you like. Save As, not just save.
Or go into settings and change where things get saved to by default.

Of course. It's just a secondary save location. A backup.

Thanks nice lady
I have done that

but then when I go to add an attachment - it says this is in the cloud and do I want to add a link. I don't. I want to add it an attachment form my PC.
I don't want any files in the cloud.

Do you want to Unlink your pc from Onedrive? If so try here... go down to 'Unlink Onedrive'
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-
or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0

The reason (I think) why people can't open your files sent by you, is because if they're in your Onedrive cloud (and not directly on your PC) they need to be "shared" with them through their onedrive.

Where is the 'cloud' physically?

Could be anywhere in the world depending on who you are using.

So it could be a hard drive hanging on a cable out of a little indian schoolboys PC in his bedrooom? Who knows where these 'cloud' companies buy their hard drive space from?

One of the first thing I do after a fresh install is get rid of one drive. I have no need for it. I have my own hard drives to save things on.

100%. I have a little stuff on Dropbox it's been there for many years. As a general rule I prefer my backup info on physical drives which I have control over.

I use onedrive just because it's easy to use, but would never put any 'sensitive' documents etc in any cloud.... that's what my physical drive is for. Good luck to any "little Indian schoolboy" who wants to read my paid utility bills etc that I scan and save so that I don't have to keep files of paperwork.
