Well done you guys ????????
I bet your house would cost you a lot more nowadays.
It can be scary when you first take out a mortgage but living in your own home and watching your mortgage getting smaller is very satisfying...

That's awesome. We still have awhile to go until we are under 6 figures, but we own 80% of our house now so getting their slowly.

That's good, you will be so pleased, especially with what has happened with your husbands job - did I read he had been made redundant earlier this year but now has another job?

we couldn't even afford to rent our house the way prices are going in our town.

Well done I know the feeling. Three years ago I refinanced to buy out the ex. Doubled the mortgage and it became a frightening six figures. It is now five figures, mainly due to an inheritance, but I have actually paid more than that off the mortgage and spent a considerable amount on the house as well.
