Excel 'LOOKUP' format query

#Post
1

I use the 'LOOKUP' function in Excel in dozens of different spreadsheets.

It's no understatement to say that I live by it for sport, business and even leisure.

What would be really useful would be if the format (particularly background colour, type size etc.) could be imported too. Is this possible, or is it just asking too much?

I'm generally using 2007 or 2013 versions.

you could have a look at the conditional formatting options

otherwise Macros are required

Thanks, but not quite what I needed.

I don't think you can do so without resorting to VBA and my general rule of thumb is if it requires VBA to do in Excel then Excel is the wrong tool for the job.

I agree. There is a use for a lookup in Excel to do a simple job and I have done lots of VBA for Excel when it is not so simple but in general I would use a database
