Win 10 PC default browser

#Post
1

Got Win 10 on my new PC recently. Set up to use Chrome as default browser (instead of any other). All was working fine. In past few days on startup (from sleep mode) the PC opens up on Edge Browser with a Microsoft site as Home page. If I close that then "Open" Chrome browser from desktop Icon I then have the Chrome Browser, together with my Chrome bookmarks and settings access (via three tops top right) correctly for Chrome.
How can I stop this conflict. What mischief is Microsoft up to??
What steps do I follow to disable the Edge browser?
All help welcome.

You can't disable Edge as a browser it's part of the operating system, however you can disable it's autostart function probably easily.

Open up task manager
alt/ctrl/delete and goto startup tab and right clk Edge and disable should work.

Thanks Julie. MS edge not in Startup list. And in App History all values for Edge are 0000 (zero/nil).
And ronaldo8 - Ms Edge not in Default Apps list.
Any other ideas.
And, I'm sure on setup I had the option of setting another browser as my default. That's why I have Chrome on the desktop.

Yup you don't want it there, its web browser setting should point to chrome, does it?

Control panel/default programs/..............

But just to check.. You say on startup Edge jumps up but if you close that you can use Chrome as normal ?

So if you clik on say a link in an email for instance - which browser pops up to open that link ?

If it says edge as in the image above then click where indicated and switch to whatever browser you prefer from the list that appears.

If however it allready shows the name of your preffered browser in that place, you have a different problem, an auto run of some kind.

Thanks Ron. Followed through as shown by you.
Found "button" to set my default browser as Chrome. Now seems OK.
Always been happy with results via TM message board. Keep up the good work - you too Julie. You're all WIZZO'S!!

Firefox has it sussed. It asks you if you want it to be default browser and takes you to the default programs window so that you may change it.
