HP DESKJET 3630 issues

#Post

Won't print documents :-( Have run through all the troubleshooting tips.
It prints a test page. All drivers up to date. All firmware up to date. Windows 10 updated. Ntework config page says everything is ok. Have done hard re-boot of both printer & router. Have run HP Scan Doctor.
Do they have inbuilt obsolecence & my fault for buying a cheap $50 printer brand new? No difference if i use usb or wireless. Am using genuine ink cartridges and factory usb cable.
Prints direct from iphone but not laptop
Am about to put the sledge hammer through it. Any tips before I do?

Define "won't print". What happens, BSOD (blue screen of death)? or something else.

The fact that it prints a test page means its not a printer problem.

Print dialogue says "printing" but it doesn't actually print. Have an older Asus A53E laptop and had HDD replaced with a SSD recently. Prints from my phone though, am so over this

Looking at the print queue would be a start. Is the job still in the queue??

Probably had a hiccup and now there's about a hundred jobs in the print queue. Seen it before from a user just trying over and over again to get print going.

Chech the print queue and clear it. Also you could turn off print spooler service and then restart it. That might help.

Have you restarted the PC/Laptop, you didn't say...
If it's your fault for anything it is buying HP, their printer/network software is rubbish.
USB and Wireless is essentially two different printers - you generally need to reinstall the software each time you change the connection type.
Make sure you can print a *windows* test page from the printer properties. If that works, any program should be able to print

Thanks for all your help to date. Yes had cleared the print queue in case a pending job was preventing printing.

Yes and will the printer print ANY file from the computer -even a simple notepad file ?

I'm trying to ascertain whether the problem lies with printing from email and perhaps only a specific type of document/file.

Ok so you know the printer works but it may still have an issue printing from one of those email attachment you were saying was not working.
You need to test that out. And if it's a fail come back and tell us the detail about the attachment which I asked for above.

Then the issue is with the document program. What printer is it set to use?

You are confusing two different threads by two different people.
