memory card locked

#Post

Just purchased a dashcam off trademe. When I plug it into my car it comes up with reformat your disk (something like that anyway)
So Ive connected it to my computer(the lock is off) and it still says this disk is write protected, im getting frustrated. Shouldnt this disk just have worked when dashcam was plugged into car?

So try that card in it. You could have a faulty sd card supplied with it.

True that with some devices, they will use their own format system but the card should still be able to be formatted on a std PC.

Some devices will auto format the card & some won't.
Perhaps the last owner used their PC to clear the card before sending it to you.

That's going to be impossible as you have not stated the make and model.

the dash cam is a dud and corrupt. Throw in bin and start again. Navman have a habit of doing this. Someone's tried to flash it and its stuffed.

Exactly what I wondered - 'tried to flash it' ? okaaay, and where did 'navman' sneak in?, no mention of that.
