network adblocking - Adguard Home

Have set this up and been using for the last week - seems to work really well... Runs on windows/mac/linux and is similar to a pihole in function but don't think it is quite as comprehensive... only issue i've had is the odd blocked site that needed unblocking.

Just need to change the DNS server to point to the machine its running on

What would be the advantage over pi-hole?

I'm running pi-hole and it seems pretty good. I guess the disadvantage to pi-hole is that pi-hole only runs on Linux. This other scheme runs on Windows and MacOS.

that's probably about it - i suspect this is an under development software, version number is 0.106.3.

to provide a basic level of ad/tracker/malware/adultsite blocking across a network, without the need to setup on individual machines

Also it can block malicious websites. We have a pi-hole and my wife clicked on a scam email about car rego. pi-hole blocked it, and she didn't get scammed.

It reduces the load on individual machines too.
