gee that is pretty good...
but of course it is a bit subjective... your current rent could already be "eye watering bloody high" and now it is going to be "eye watering bloody high + a little bit more" or then it could be going from "reasonable" to "still reasonable" !!

Rent was reasonable 3 years ago for 3 bed 2 bathroom that suited us in West Auckland. Rent is always paid fortnightly and water bills within 1-3 days of receiving invoice from Property Manager.

Yes that's good. Bills to pay for you and landlord.

Probably well under current market rate now. Enjoy it for another year.

Indeed, a whole year until the LL can legally increase the rent again.

Not quite.
If a new tenant comes in, the LL can raise the rent.

Word is the government is looking at attaching the year rent increase limit to the property not the tenant. Sounds like rent controls are off the table *for now* though, but landlords should still be checking their tenants are paying around market rent.

Robbo's lying through his teeth again.
The nutters can't wait to bring in more rent controls.

I'm just surprised the Greens aren't pushing for car-less days again.
Politicians and public servants exempted of course.

???? They probably haven’t thought of it yet and are too young to have seen it!
