| 4 | you could try disabling the touchpad and use a mouse - in windows that would be done in device manager. You need to do this sort of thing quickly, possibly with the keyboard only. | 5 | I went to get the wireless mouse I was using, and there was something resting on it, pushing the left mouse button. This was causing my strange symptoms. I guess the machine will keep going for a while longer. The battery has suddenly lost a lot of capacity in the last few weeks, and now only contains 45% of original, so that is a bit of a bummer, but never mind.
