Wireless HDMI Display Dongle

Hey all, silly question. Do these work from PC to TV?
I've seen lots but they mention phone, laptops and tablets etc and is it a true mirror of the screen?

If they are for PCs is there a better brand? Just don't want a cable down the hall.

TIA :)

Laptop is a portable PC and what your casting would depend on the apps capabilities.

Thanks. So they don't work the same as HDMI cables do? I've got a chromecast but wanted to basically use the TV as another monitor.

You can cast your desktop, so this would mirror what's on your laptop.

I might be mistaken but in my experience you can only cast to a CHROMEcast from content being streamed through the CHROME internet browser. I have been unable to mirror my ipad programs using chromecast and have been looking at miracast as a possible option.

There are many ways to cast to a Chromecast and one of them is from a chrome browser. There are apps which enable casting, you can cast from the YouTube app in Android anyway, and I have a Sony and Oppo Android phones which will cast ANY screen content at all.

There are also Windows based apps which will cast media content.

You can get a wireless HDMI extender like this to mirror the screen.

Wireless-Extender--1080p10m-with-U

The one I linked is 1080p, 7-10 meter range, and it does say "line of sight".

That's an iOS limitation - you can cast the entire screen in Android or Windows.

There are some apps in the app store that claim to allow full screen casting on iOS but I don't know how well they work, otherwise an Apple TV is a good option (albeit expensive)
