has anyone had fibre broadband connected to a tiny house (semi transportable)?

Well fibre is a fixed line connection. You can't transport it....

I assume that tiny houses / transportable house have disconnect points for the power, water, drainage etc... would you just have a similar point for the fibre ?

Correct. trying to ask to the telco providers is a bloody nightmare. They either don't speak English, or take over 20 minutes to talk to a person....who also doesn't speak English

SmartAss. So where and how will you terminate the Fibre. It normally runs from the street to a termination box bolted to a house then a fibre cable runs from that to the ONT which is installed in the house. Considering that the house might move how will you enable it to be disconnected/connected on demand ? Fibre is setup as a fixed connection.

The free fibre install is only available to a primary house on a property, and only when it runs past the gate (and other terms & conditions). Does your property have fibre past the gate? Is it the primary house?

Otherwise I doubt the connection would be free. Your better bet might be a wireless 4G service. And I doubt Chorus would be enthusiastic about temporary connections, where you might up and relocate the building at a months notice.

I have been on site for 7 years so far, and no intention of moving. The house is on blocks, not wheels so for all intents and purposes, a static dwelling. My original question was/is directed to anyone who has had it installed.

Yes, thank you. Figured it might be the case as there are 2 dwellings on the 1 property. Thank you for your help. Cheers

Minor dwellings (which is essentially what you have here) were not included in the government funded rollout, and therefore we cannot just connect them up.

Yes there are two fibre strands to the FTP, but BOTH of those essentially belong to the connected dwelling (for the purposes of that occupant to have either a 2nd ONT for themselves if they wish, or for unbundled services). The second fibre strand cannot be repurposed for use in an alternative dwelling onsite, as each dwelling MUST have it's own unique address identifier (TLC) and its own fibre drop-off built in the street to the boundary.

The rules for a connection to your secondary unit/minor dwelling are as follows - ie one of the following will apply:

1. No separate letterbox or registered postal address:

Cannot have its own TLC address created;
Cannot have its own fibre installed;
Cannot extend 2nd ONT from FTP allocated to primary dwelling;

2. Has separate letterbox and registered postal address:

Your RSP can submit an Address Validation Request and include evidence as follows:

Council approved site plans & building consent documentation and/or;
Registered postal address & power meter details (as screenshot from NZ Post website and Electricity Authority “Find My Meter” website;
Photo of letterbox.

With this information attached to the validation request, Chorus AMA can create and validate the service address & TLC, and an order can then be placed by your RSP.

The order will follow the Infill Build process, and Infill Build charges will apply (typically $575 or $1200). Chorus will collect payment direct from the property owner before build work proceeds.

Just run a network cable from the other house and share the cost of the internet.

Starlink will also be an option very very soon for most of NZ.

My mutterings above also apply to Enable.

The "box on the outside wall" is there an actual connection / termination in this box or does the fibre cable just run through this box and terminate inside the ONT ? so if you were to move the house can the fibre just be disconnected / unplugged in the box or would you either have to cut it, for later rejoining, or disconnect at the ONT and pull it back to the outside clear of the house ??

The box has a connection in it. You'd need a tech to disconnect and reconnect it not a 'home' job you can do with scissors and gaffa tape.

Runs through ETP, i.e., is spliced inside ETP typically to a simplex single mode SC APC patch lead or even opticat (combination cat6 and SM).

As others have suggested, 4g wireless modem will do what you need unless you are using a huge amount of date per month.
I use 4g Skinny for my business & the wife uses Sparks own 4g wireless for her work.
Never have connection issues & speed is pretty reasonable
Get an account for either service/ pay for the modem, (Most Telco's charge for them now) plug it in, turn it on & 15 minutes later go surfing.
When you move house, tell your provider the new address & you just take the modem with you & plug it in again

4G isn't super duper everywhere. Areas of Rangiora would be antenna on roof at least. I'm aware of fibre areas in Kaiapoi/Rangiora that have crap cellular from certain providers.
