New Ipad

#Post

Mature non-gamer here. Have had an Apple ipad for about 6 years that is finally giving up the ghost (won't hold a charge for any length of time). Any recommendations for new replacement to use round the house?

Needs good capacity for media (photos/ vids and some music) and a decent size screen. What are the pitfalls with the latest ipads. Do they come with programmes fully loaded (e.g. office suite, etc)?

There are no pitfalls, just buy whatever model you like the size of best.

They come with a basic office suite installed (Pages, Numbers etc) but there are any number of other alternatives both free and paid.

if there is a gotcha, it's that they still seem to have ridiculously small storage capacity in there entry level modes (32GB), and charge an equally ridiculous amount more for extra storage.
One would hope the more expensive models have other features - paying that much more purely for extra storage is... ridiculous...

That's Apple. In past times, and probably still, Ram upgrades were about 3x the cost of non Apple approved, Ram which would do the job perfectly anyway.

They have a lot of money and for good reasons.

Can you fit a micro sd card to an ipad? They are real cheap now.

One pitfall is that they are made by forced labour.

And they don't want to stop using them either

Theres even a book about it
