I don't think you will, but you might want to consider skinny 4g internet, we changed to that and it is actually quite a bit faster.

no VDSL needs to be setup by the ISP (different infrastructure) before you can access it. Some of them don't offer it nowadays and seem quite reluctant if pressed for it... they would rather low-use users go on the 4g connections since it's provisioned inhouse ie cheaper for them, fibre for everyone else...

well if you can get VDSL its certainly a lot better than ADSL - I get 95 down / 25 up on VDSL. You will need to arrange through you're ISP, usually takes a few days to week, they will often supply you a new modem...

If you can't get decent cellphone reception then you're almost certainly too far away for VDSL to work

we went from ADSL to VDSL (no fibre option in our area) and there is a good speed difference, prior to VDSL even watching a youtube video was next to impossible without buffering for a good few mins.

Sometimes ADSL is fast, but it depends on your location.

its the 1Mbps max upload speed that cripples ADSL these days

We are less than 1.5 km to the nearest exchange hut, about 1.8km to the nearest fibre termination. BUT in a dip so our cellphone coverage is marginal, best speed on cellular about 4Mb.

Click on this as a starter, click on the 'VDSL' layer option (mustard colour) and then scroll and zoom to your location. It can show the other types of access too.

No, if VDSL is available you must change plan with provider.

You should check the chorus broadband map too see if it available in your area. Most town centers should be covered but not all suburbs. For example you can ask to be put on a VDSL profile (Over the phone) and you'll pay for it but you won't see any speed difference if you are too far away from the copper exchange, even if you have a capable modem.

You may be on the wrong provider because you can get VDSL or even fibre in Whangarei. I guess your isp is Flip?

At 1.5 km from exchange you won't get any better than your ADSL speed, maybe worse. Totally pointless even trying really.

I have a 120/30 VDSL2 connection. Cabinet is 70 metres (on footpath at end of building) as crow flies, less than 300 metre cable run.

the faster upload speed of VDSL might be worth it though
