the IE icon has just plain vanished off the bottom bar of my screen no ida why in the past others have vanished but i have somehow fixed them
I have tried to look in many places to fix but this one is beyond me running widows 8.1 or something ? im relly not up on this stuff ...on the bottom bar all the other usual ones are still there but IE has vanished (so using google chrome ? now) ..i usually do but just have IE always open as well just on email

Jargon free answers please im not so up on all this

the only thing i can think of doing is doing a "system restore" would this work ?

but that can also make things vanish

that's overkill.

Just type iexplore into the search box beside the start button. You'll get a popup box with Internet Explorer link there. RIGHT clik it one time and a menu will appear. Left click 'pin to taskbar'

ok there is no search box " beside the start button. " i found the search feature by clicking the start button a large search box appeared on the right hand side of screen but NO MENUE appeared

ty for help so far but i could not find any referance to IE ...i did eventualy fing one but no where did it give the option of "menu will appear. Left click 'pin to taskbar'

If you find an IE shortcut you then RIGHT click it one time and that menu will appear.

What version of windows are you using?

If Win 10 you should see a magnifying glass icon beside the start button. Left click that to get the search box.

when you find it, just open it normally so it is on the screen, then you can go to the icon in the task bar, right click, pin to taskbar

i THINK its widows 8 with update to 8.5 or some thing

no magnifying glass next to start button
will try your suggestion of try to some how find IE short cut and menu from there .. i will report back latter
