Should I update to new Win 10 version

#Post

Just set up my new Win 10 PC. It has version 1803 loaded - OS Build 1734.1304.
A message came up two days into my new ownership that says there is a new version available for my system. I take it that is not a (regular) update, but a new full version of Win 10. Is that correct?
Should I install the new version. Or, can I just "click away" the message/offer and carry on with what I have?
What would be the benefit of the new Version?
Thank for advice.

Yip your version is pretty old...

-Version 1803 (April 2018 Update)
-Version 1809 (October 2018 Update)
-Version 1903 (May 2019 Update)
-Version 1909 (November 2019 Update)
-Version 2004 (May 2020 Update)
-Version 20H2 (October 2020 Update)

I am not sure whether it updates to version 20H2 or whether it does it in the steps above. King1 or someone else might know.

I think it fixes bugs and known security threats as it does each update so 20H2 will have far less bugs and be more secure than 1803. No doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Just did an update (an hour ago). Per my Settings/About I now have version 20H2. So, seems an update is just a later version (as was offered to me by message on my start up screen, ie update and new version are the same thing.
