I want a 44 pin IDE Male to Male Gender Changer.

| I am playing with some 44 pin IDE flash modules which have a female port rather than a male as found on standard 2.5 hard drives. It would be convenient if I could access these little buggers from my own PC, I have 2 different adapters I can use but they both have a female port. These changers seem to be available overseas but I am impatient and want one soon. Thanks linuxjeff - 2021-04-20 16:45:00 |

| Find a circuit board with an extended pin riser & cut them off & jam them in the end of a suitable data cable then jam the IDE module on the other pin ends. Working out pin one on both ends should be easy enough & even if you get it wrong first time, just turn it around 180 degree's again. 5 | Here you go, 50 pack of pins: 0.9mm PCB Pins - Pk.50 Only $6.90. You will have to bung them into your IDE cable manually, but... Or maybe try your local electronics recycling facility. Ecotech services down in Christchurch is good, but I'm sure there would be a similar one in Wellington. tygertung - 2021-04-21 08:55:00 |
| This is 50-pin, ignore the extras. And it's right-angle. gyrogearloose - 2021-04-21 09:18:00 |
| Wow, what a bargain. There are stores in Wellington city and Lower Hutt. tygertung - 2021-04-21 09:33:00 |
| Thanks for the suggestions. On my way to Jaycar now to investigate. Cheers linuxjeff - 2021-04-21 14:35:00 |
| Bad news GyroGG. The pin spacing is not near enough to adjust the pins. I got one to try but I dont think it's a goer. Good try though. linuxjeff - 2021-04-21 15:27:00 |

What about the individual pin option? tygertung - 2021-04-21 16:24:00 |
| Cut up a bit of copper wire and make pins out of that? tygertung - 2021-04-21 16:25:00 |
| mrfxit wrote: I think that has the same flaw I'm guilty of - the motherboard connectors have a pin spacing of 2.54mm to suit 3.5inch disks, while the flash cards in question are like 2.5inch laptop disks and have a pin spacing of 2mm. Not to mention they will be 40-pin rather than 44-pin. I'm presuming the OP was aware of this and had some cunning plan. gyrogearloose - 2021-04-21 16:28:00 |
| I tried single pins and could not detect the module. I presume I damaged one somehow and will try that again if I have to. Thanks linuxjeff - 2021-04-21 17:33:00 |
