Tenant Privacy

Found this wee gem in a Tenancy contract, under Purpose of Collecting Tenant's Information "To check whether I am politically significant.".

Is this common?

It appears to breach the Privacy Act according to this... https://www.tenancy.govt.nz/starting-a-tenancy/tenancy-agree
ments/discrimination/

An asylum-seeker? A prosecution witness to Trump's sexual predation? A diplomat?

Many of those are completely intrusive and not relevant.

“I consent that my personal information including debts may be discussed with any personal or work referees”

Personal debts are none of an employees business.

Also the automatic referral to the moving company. Out of order.

Probably not relevant but there was the woman tenant in Wellington who used diplomatic immunity at the Tenancy Tribunal
