Electricity consumption & solar export flipped

#Post
1

My electricity supplier has my solar export recorded as my consumption. Any idea on how they could get this so wrong and not realise it even when they supplied myself with raw data clearly showing it's totally flipped around? I finally worked out why my bills are wrong after it being wrong for a year. I don't understand how they could stuff this up so badly. Is my new smart meter programmed incorrectly? The data supplied shows I export 24hrs a day and generally only consume when the sun shines. My useage according to the supplier over the last quarter is consumption almost 3,000kWh and export of about 100kWh. That data looks ok on face value but considering the house is vacant (not even a fridge on site) with a large solar array it should be in credit. Anyone have this happen to them or can explain it? I don't and can't export electricity at night without the sun.

The interface has mistaken the signs on positive and negative numbers, ask your electricity supplier to redress your bill. They should be able to cope with addressing this moving forward, but if they insist your data needs to be fixed then ring your solar installer, their sticker will be on the side of the solar kit, and typically they can plug their laptop in or access it from the internet and change the export setup.

So once it's corrected, you will receive a monster bill..... if I was you, I'd be jkeeping quiet and if it's ever discovered then they stuffed up, not you.

How will he receive a monster bill if the site is unoccupied, and has no electrical usage?
Alternatively turn off the solar panels until they sort it.

The OP is implying that he's being billed on the basis of what he exports. So if he's not on the property but his solar continues exporting, he'll get a monster bill.
