web page not working

#Post

windows 10. If I leave a web page up and go away, when I return nothing works, clicking on any part is dead and if I refresh it still doesnt work. Happens whether using chrome or avg browser. This was not the case previous. Any ideas?

it's some kind of inactive tab freezing/discarding that chrome is doing, and it is a bit annoying really... I have tabs that update constantly and I like to flick back and see how it's doing from time to time. But Chrome in its infinite wisdom doesn't seem to think I should work that way.

I find switching to another tab and back to it again livens it up but you still need to refresh or wait for page to update the content...

Haven't found an option yet to disable it...

Avg browser ?

What ever that is disable it.
Letting antivirus programs control your surfing is superfluous and unnecessary and possibly causing your problem.

So that's nice but try a little bit of process of elimination. It's not uncommon for program updates to cause issues. And Avg really hasn't got the best reputation anyway. So simply disable the brower integration and see what happens.

AVG is a virus in it's own behaviour anyway. Plus it costs!

I've been having this problem under Chrome too - for about the last week.

Costs? Its a free browser, not using the antivirus program

Uh?

AVG is not free and costs real money. Do you think it's a browser?

I found this on a reddit thread, seems many are having a problem

"From one of the other posters here:
If it annoys you, in chrome://flags disable Calculate window occlusion on Windows and you're good, that will never happen again."

So I have done that on chrome and it appears to have worked

touch wood that seems to have sorted it. Hopefully the powers that be will continue to allow it to be disabled...
