Do you have any friends with trailers? That's how we have always moved houses.

List all your stuff on Trade Me. Misrepresent it all and when they complain, get them to return it to your new address for a refund.

Have you tried winz, if you are low income and meet the criteria they may help.

1. Where are you moving from and to? (because across Masterton is entirely different to Auckland to Invercargill)
2. How much do you have to move (1 room, 5 rooms? Perhaps do a volume calf via a movers website).
3. What sort of budget do you have?
4. Household goods only? (Anything problematic, like say treadmills, workshop plant, vehicles?)
5. What sort of timing? This week? This month? This year?

Do you know a person with a HT licence? If so hire a truck for the day and rope in friends. Last time we moved 11 years ago we moved two households in different directions in just under 6 hours with friends helping. Sure everything was just dumped inside with only the heavy stuff heaved into place, but it worked well with refreshments provided at the new addresses. Capricorngirl

Op you could try ringing around local moving companies to get quotes and see if they have payment plans but I don't think they will be cheap. Are you moving from rental to rental? Maybe the property manager or landlord could help you out, especially if they keen for you to vacate the property. Also have another think about asking family and friends, you may be able to work out a time when you have time off work. Good luck, moving house is not fun.
